Koepka, bidding for back-to-back major wins after landing his first at the US Open last month, made a quiet start with seven pars before getting under the card at the eighth, and he reeled off three straight birdies from the 11th before making his only mistake of the round at the 16th. "You just try and mentally piece your way around", Ian Poulter explained.
