News 13 reports that Stroupe was first sighted in Yancey County on Highway 80 coming into McDowell County. He ran into a tomato field before he was taken into custody. "He had a lot of time to cover a lot more ground". Stroupe, 38, of Weaverville, was released from the Yancey County Detention Center last Thursday. (more...)

"Deep monsoon moisture will result in widespread showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain", the weather service said. These are likely to die down some as temperatures heat up today but storms will likely redevelop just before getting in the Quad Cities this afternoon and evening and there is a risk for some of these storms to be severe.
