After a Bastille Day celebration in Paris that put the United States at the centre of festivities, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Nice to mark a year since the truck terror attack that killed 86 revellers. Palestine has denounced the ongoing closure of Al-Aqsa mosque compound, calling it a violation of their religious freedoms. "An attack today in the Old City of Jerusalem left two policemen dead". Israel's minister of public security Gilad Erdan said "the terrorists had desecrated the sanctity" of the site. The decision to reopen the compound, also holy to Jews who call it the Temple Mount, was taken by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who was leaving for an official visit to France. (more...)
