Firefighters battled a blaze in east London on Sunday (NZ time) after flames engulfed a third-floor apartment in a low-rise block of buildings. A block of flats in Turin Street, Bethnal Green Road, is now on fire. The brigade's 999 control took almost 50 calls. The roof of the tower block in Turin Street is alight while flames can be seen from the windows. The London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: 'The cause of the fire is under investigation'. (more...)
