A government media spokesperson said the building had been successfully evacuated, and no injuries had been reported so far. Horrified Dubai residents shared photos and videos of the flaming debris falling from the building. Cara Spillane tweeted: "Terrifying to see Torch Tower, in the area I live in on fire now". A fire broke out at the same building in 2015 but it was brought under control with no fatalities. (more...)

Only 1958 was even worse - 855,000 hectares burned that year. 132 fires are still burning in BC and almost $200 million has already been spent fighting them. Conditions were expected to worsen in the coming days as southern B.C. faces a heat wave. MacCharles said the current size and movement of the fire does not present a threat to Nelson or Nelson's water supply and Wildfire crews continue to work on the fire from the ground and the air. Overhead Progress: Crews continued to construct the new overhead transmission line today. Then residents will have their power load gradually switched from generators to the transmission line. Power went out when construction workers accidently cut a transmission line on the Bonner Bridge. Cooperative Spokeswoman Laura Ertle said a new line that runs overhead is nearing completion. A Texas woman who was missing at the Grand Canyon may have been found. One of Beadle's brothers, Charles Lawrence Springer, said she was visiting national parks with the children and that they had also visited Yellowstone National Park. Beadle was described by park officials as an experienced hiker who had hiked in the Grand Canyon previously. No additional information was available and the investigation is ongoing. (more...)
