Flyers blanked by Penguins in Game 4, 5-0

Pittsburgh Penguins take 2-1 series lead behind performance of Matt Murray power play

But after finding that the Flyers weren't getting much production out of their other three lines - and after a ghastly 10-game losing streak - Hakstol shuffled the lines a bit in early December, keeping Giroux and Couturier together on the top line, along with Travis Konecny, and moving Voracek down to the second line. First, the Penguins were all over the Flyers from the start, rolling four lines and eventually generating 18 of the first 25 shot attempts, including a power-play goal by Malkin at 4:33 off a slick backhand pass from Crosby. The Flyers realized the importance of winning at least one of their previous two games at home to avoid heading back to Pittsburgh on the verge of elimination, but they couldn't even accomplish that goal. Pittsburgh now holds a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Follow along all season as our photographers highlight the best action of each game. So great, in fact, that the Flyers still go to her now and then (usually when they need a victory as badly as they did in Game 4) by putting her on the video board in a powerful duet with Lauren Hart, who is standing on the ice below.

Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, and Phil Kessel each had a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who lead the series, three games to one, and can advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a win Friday in Pittsburgh.

With an assist on Malkin's opening goal, Crosby earned his 162nd career playoff point, tying Mario Lemiuex for most all-time in franchise history.

The carnage continued, care of Crosby (assisted by Guentzel and Dominik Simon) and his shifty stick as a turnover led to a quick wraparound goal as Neuvirth looked the wrong way to put Pittsburgh ahead 4-0.

Kris Letang tripled the Penguins' lead in the 2nd after burying a shot off Andrew MacDonald's stick and the goal post, chasing Brian Elliott from the game. Neuvirth lost track of the puck behind the net and had his head turned to the right when Crosby found it and snapped it under the goalie's left skate.

Giroux, who scored 102 points during the season, has not scored a posteason goal since 2014. The Devils led until J.T. Miller and Kucherov scored about 3 1/2 minutes apart in the first period. "You can expect this team to have some fight the next game". Miller also had two assists and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 27 shots.

"They had their chances, at times", Murray said. "Right now we have to forget about this game and try to refocus ... and try to get a game in Pittsburgh and bring it back here".

Throughout the series, the Flyers have been thoroughly outmatched, and outplayed.
