Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Will Not Include Single-Player Mode

Polygon says Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will not have a campaign mode By Keshav

As a result, the team made a decision to shift focus toward the multiplayer and Zombies modes that have defined the subseries since it began in 2010. They added this same source also told them in place of the story mode would be a battle royale mode. That being said, the Call of Duty franchise has had some pretty phenomenal single-player campaigns in the past (Ghost!).

None of this is likely to sound farfetched to most readers but it's worth reiterating we probably won't know for sure until the game's official reveal on May 17th.

A battle royale mode in a Call of Duty game has been anticipated by many, though there's some surprise that it'll come so soon.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches this October, it will do so without a "traditional single-player" mode according to a Polygon report.

A Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 4 battle royale mode should be no surprise considering how successful the genre has been this year with the likes of PUBG and Fortnite raking it in, it's no surprise that Activision wants a piece of the action. They claim that they've heard from a source as well, and that source is saying that a Battle Royale Mode is coming to Call of Duty: Black IIII. Treyarch are reportedly working on expanding both multiplayer and zombies modes, and it seems they're looking at an emphasis on co-op modes as a stand-in for a traditional campaign. Activision refuses to comment on this latest development, but based on previous Call of Duty games, it doesn't seem all that unlikely.
