Russian Federation vows to retaliate against U.S. missile attack in Syria

Russian UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia

U.S. President Donald J. Trump promised to reach a decision on "forceful" military action in reaction to an alleged chemical attack on the Syrian town of Douma "very quickly".

"Get ready Russian Federation, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!' You shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!'" tweeted Trump this morning.

Though worldwide investigators have not completed an investigation into the suspected poison gas attack that reportedly killed more than 45 people on Saturday, Trump swiftly placed the blame on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, joining leaders from countries including the United Kingdom and France who have called for "strong" action against Syria.

The last time the USA launched cruise missiles into Syria, it made sure to warn Russian Federation the strike was coming.

"It was filmed on the H shaped building at [geographic coordinates] 33.573900, 36.404831, which we've confirmed by geolocation", said Bellingcat founder Eliott Higgins. "We need all nations to work together", President Trump Twitted.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said "there are Russians present in large numbers in Syria, and Russia will do everything to protect its people on Syrian soil".

Peskov added there were no plans for Putin to call Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron or UK Prime Minister Theresa May amid the crisis.

"It can possibly become an influence lever to push Russian Federation in order to start real negotiations", Hassoun said.

Any countries that carry out a strike on Syria over the chemical weapons attack could also defend their action under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter, which covers an individual or collective right to self-defense against armed attack.

The United States and many of its allies have blamed the Syrian government for an alleged chemical attack in Syria's Duma over the weekend.

The jihadist group is fighting to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad's regime and establish a caliphate. But during a meeting with national security officials at the White House earlier this week, Trump told reporters he would not publicly telegraph his moves - something he criticized former President Barack Obama for doing.

In an interview with Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV station, Mr Zasypkin said any missiles fired at Syria would be shot down and the launching sites targeted.
