All 6 IPL-matches shifted from Chennai amid Cauvery protests

Why Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard wore identical jerseys with Number 400 in IPL 2018 opener

Tamil Nadu in the past few weeks has seen massive protest relating to the Cauvery water protest, with even the state police failing to assure protection to the fans and players during the games at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, the BCCI and the IPL council on Thursday made a decision to shift games to Pune. "Will miss playing on our home ground and entertaining our Chennai fans this season".

According to news agency ANI, Shukla said, "We had chose to hold all IPL matches in Chennai on police's assurance that adequate security would be provided". In this blog, let us see the three factors that may derail Chennai's charge in the Vivo IPL 201.

The protesters got their wish once the IPL took action, but Chennai players, including Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, were quick to voice their displeasure in having to move home games away from M. A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Pune will now play host to the remaining home games for the Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai losing out on matches has left CSK fans and cricket lovers in the city disappointed.

"Because of the volatile situation we have been apprised that it is better to reschedule the games", Viswanathan said. The players have shown to what it means to play for CSK and it has become the team to beat again.

Asked why Ranchi, the hometown of CSK's iconic captain M.S. Dhoni was not considered, he said: "It was not in the list given to us by the Board".

CSK's head coach Stephen Fleming also took to Twitter to express his sorrow over the decision.

Committee of Administrator (CoA) chief Vinod Rai had earlier told PTI that the prevailing situation has forced them to explore options and they had kept the alternative venues ready.

IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla had also spoken to the Union Home Secretary on Tuesday, seeking government intervention in smooth conduct of IPL matches in Chennai.

Hundreds of demonstrators, some wearing black t-shirts and waving black balloons, gathered near the venue shouting slogans ahead of the Chennai Super Kings' match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The team management is evaluating Raina's recovery time but mentioned that his participation in the next match "looks unlikely".
