Russia Will Expel British Diplomats In Poisoning Standoff

US UK France Germany blame Russia for nerve-agent attack

The accusations have continued after Britain's foreign minister, Boris Johnson claimed that it is "highly likely" that Russian President Vladimir Putin himself ordered the nerve-agent attack on the spy.

Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday that the Russian state was culpable for the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal, a former double agent who betrayed dozens of spies of Britain's MI6 foreign intelligence service, and his daughter.

"We condemn this unprecedented attack by Russian Federation on the territory of the United Kingdom".

His comments are coming days after UK Prime Minister Theresa May pointed accussing fingers at Russian Federation for being responsible for the attack of the pair. Johnson also said that London had nothing against the Russian people, "we do not get along with Putin and the Kremlin", he added.

Mr Johnson's comments earned a scathing rebuke from Mr Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said: "We have said on different levels and occasions that Russian Federation has nothing to do with this story".

"Any reference or mention of our president in this regard is a shocking and unforgivable breach of diplomatic rules of decent behaviour", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to the agency. Using a military-grade nerve agent in the Salisbury incident "further demonstrates the reckless and irresponsible conduct of its [Russia's] government", the United States said.

Russia's government will add more Americans to its "black list" in response to new sanctions against Russians accused of election meddling. In an attempt to decide how to proceed, London has joined the anti-Russian campaign of how to contain Russia, the Russian Ambassador to London believes. A report in the Telegraph says it was put in the suitcase of Skripal's daughter before she left Russian Federation for Britain to see her father.

British Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, sparked particular outrage in Moscow with his blunt comment on Thursday that "Russia should go away, it should shut up". Mirzayanov said he revealed the existence of Novichok because he thought it was necessary to deprive Russian Federation of its "deadly secret".

Britain has written to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague, which monitors compliance with the global convention outlawing the use of such weapons, to obtain independent verification of the substance used.

The Kremlin has repeatedly denied any involvement in the killing.

An 83-year-old Russian whistleblower who helped develop Novichok told the AP on Friday that no other country could have used that particular nerve agent to poison a former spy.

Former military intelligence agent Sergei Skripal had been pardoned and was "no longer a threat to Russia", Nebenzia argued, but at the same time, he could clearly serve as "the flawless victim who could justify any unthinkable lie, any kind of untruth tarnishing Russia". Russia's top agency for major crimes was also investigating the attack on Yulia Skripal, who is a Russian citizen.
