Mark Fox out as Georgia basketball coach, reports say

Georgia men hang on to upset Missouri in SEC tournament

Fox has been in charge of the Georgia program since the 2009-10 season but only led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament twice.

The Bulldogs' point total was their lowest this season and well below their season offensive average of almost 69 point per game. It remains unclear if the school would accept it following a coaching change. Fox boasted a record of 166-133 in his time in Athens.

Tom Crean's absence from the college basketball coaching ranks may only last a year. Current assistant coach Jonas Hayes, a former Georgia player, has also been mentioned as a candidate.

"He's just being aggressive, we trust him to go score, shoots over the defender and being real physical".

Georgia's reported decision to move on from Fox comes one day after it was defeated by Kentucky in the SEC tournament quarterfinals. The Wildcats are 229-5 under Calipari when leading by at least 10 points during a game.

He is now in his ninth year with the Bulldogs.

After a long search, Evans hired Fox, who had guided Nevada to three NCAAA tournament appearances during his five years.

The Bulldogs (12) are the underdogs despite wins over Vanderbilt and Missouri over the past two days, respectively.

This season began with higher expectations, especially after Yante Maten announced he would return for his senior year. This is only the second time Maten scored less than 10 points in a game this season. The Bulldogs did hold the rebounding advantage at 21-19, led by Ogbeide with a game-high six boards.
