Amazon Whole Foods deliveries expand to two new cities

4 Ways Amazon Is Rewarding Prime Members at Whole Foods

Last month, we learned that Amazon had launched its Whole Foods delivery service.

Walmart's grocery business faced stepped-up competition when Amazon acquired Whole Foods previous year for almost $14 billion. If you're like to get your groceries within one hour, you can pay an additional $8 to get them faster.

Prime customers in those metro areas can now shop through Prime Now for bestselling items such as fresh produce, meat and seafood, everyday staples and other locally sourced items from Whole Foods. Customers can go online or use the Prime Now app available on Android and iOS devices.

Amazon is expanding its delivery partnership with Whole Foods by rolling out free delivery from the grocery chain to Prime members in San Francisco and Atlanta. A test of ZIP codes in San Jose and Oakland showed the delivery option available in at least parts of those cities.

For the uninitiated, Prime Now is a service available in some cities that allows Prime members to arrange two-hour deliveries of the items they purchase through Amazon. Select alcohol is also available for delivery to San Francisco customers. "Together, we have already lowered prices on many items, and this offering makes Prime customers' lives even easier". As the first national certified organic grocer, Whole Foods Market has over 470 stores in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

The expansion of Whole Foods deliveries, similarly, seems to be running at a quickened pace, as competition with Walmart - which runs a popular grocery pickup service - looms.
