Cops say they were reluctant to release the photo - of a dark-skinned man in his early 40s - but had run out of options in identifying him.
Homicide Detective Sergeant Hank Idsinga will update the media.
In a press conference Monday, Toronto Police Detective Hank Idsinga released a photograph of an unidentified deceased male and asked for anyone with information about his identity to come forward.
Idsinga says they are still working to identify four of the remains.
Investigators didn't initially realize they had seven sets of remains in their possession, he said.

Bruce McArthur, 66, was arrested in January following an investigation into the disappearances of two men from a predominantly gay neighbourhood in downtown Toronto a year ago, which led police to the planters at a property that he used for storage.
As forensics teams continue to try to identify the remains, Idsinga said police have "just begun" going through historical cold cases to see if there are any links to McArthur.
Police believe the man in the photo was a victim of McArthur, 66, who is already charged with six counts of first-degree murder in connection to the other bodies found. He was accused of murdering several people and burying their remains inside large planters on the properties where he worked, according to The Guardian.
As the Toronto Sun first reported, McArthur allegedly had a penchant for keeping twisted trophies of his alleged conquests.
Police are not sure how many more victims will be discovered.
His case is due back in court March 14. Police believe McArthur met his victims in the area and through dating apps.
