You'll soon be able to get your hands on Android Go phones

Google announces Android Enterprise Recommended program

The technology in ARCore now works on 100 million Android smartphones, all of which are newer flagship devices from Samsung, LG, and Google itself. ARCore is Google's answer to Apple's ARKit and is used to power things like the AR Stickers feature in Pixel phones.

ARCore was first announced by Google way back in August 2017 and was first made available a year ago as a developer preview for the Pixel phones and Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S7.

Just a couple days before the world's biggest smartphone convention kicks off in Barcelona, Google is rolling out updates for a number of its most interesting Android features. Some of the new vendors include Huawei, Motorola, Xiaomi, Nokia, ZTE, Sony Mobile, and Vivo.

As Google teases Android Go phones for MWC 2018, we're able to provide a first look at General Mobile's first Android Go phone.

Google's new slimmed-down operating system, Android Go, still has yet to arrive on any hardware despite its unveiling last December.

Being out of beta, developers can now upload their ARCore titles to Play Store for everyone to download.

In addition to supporting more devices, ARCore 1.0 also brings improvements to make development process faster and easier, including better environmental understanding that enables users to place virtual assets on any textured surfaces like posters, furniture, toy boxes, books, cans, and so on.

With Google's Pixel 2 and 2 XL, users can change the wallpaper to a darker image and receive a dark user interface to match. If you happen to own a compatible flagship device, you will also get the camera-based Lens experience within Google Assistant.

There are already a handful of applications using ARCore, including a portal to FC Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium created by Snapchat, Sotheby's International Realty interior visualization tool, and an app that puts Porsche's Mission E concept vehicle in users' driveways. Android Oreo (Go edition) phones also include a set of apps from Google that are created to use less memory and storage space, but still offer excellent experiences. Google Lens will be expanding its footprint on Android and iOS in the coming weeks. You could, for example, turn on your lights, start a playlist, and hear any important reminders by saying "OK Google, I'm home".
