The foreign minister insisted that a fenced border was in the "mutual interest" of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Less than 10 per cent of the fence along the 2,343km of mountainous border with Afghanistan has been completed so far due to financial constraints.

"It won't cost them much", Asif said of the U.S.in an interview on February 2 in Islamabad.

"The war [in Afganistan] is costing them much more", he was quoted as saying.

Relations between Washington and Islamabad have frayed in recent months after US President Trump's angry tweet on January 1 about Pakistan's "lies and deceit" over its alleged support for the Afghan Taliban and their allies.

Asif in the Bloomberg interview also called upon the U.S. to extend its help for repatriation of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan, which he said is paramount to establishing peace.

Asif told the news outlet that as many as 70,000 people are crossing the border a day, terming it a "free for all".

He said this while speaking to Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal who called on him here to discuss the Pak-US relations and regional security issues.

When asked about Trump's allegations, Asif said that Pakistan wanted better ties with the U.S.

It's a free for all.

On Friday, Karzai met with Pakistani officials about a week after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani insisted that the "center of Taliban terrorism is in Pakistan" and demanded that authorities in the neighboring country "show some concrete action to rid their territory of insurgents".

Sajna has been an important terrorrist commander of the Pakistani Taliban and had close links with the Afghan Taliban, the officials said.

He said both Pakistan and United States should work together for peace in the region.

Qaiser Khan Afridi, a spokesman for the UN Refugee Agency in Islamabad, said there were funding shortages for Afghan refugees as resources have been diverted to other places like Syria and Iraq.

The drone fired two missiles at a house, reportedly belonging to the militants linked to the Haqqani Network.

According reports, Janjua said that instead of getting engaged in a blame game, Pakistan and Afghanistan should engage in concrete cooperation.
