Eagles QB Coach John DeFilippo Reportedly Will Be Hired as Vikings OC

Pat Shurmur makes first mark on Giants’ roster

There aren't many players on the current Minnesota Vikings roster that have experience with new offensive coordinator John DiFilippo at any of his stops in Oakland, Cleveland or Philadelphia, so the Vikings' offensive players will be asking running back Latavius Murray for the scoop on their new OC.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have hired Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator.

DeFilippo, though, could decide to wait and see what happens with Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich, whom the Colts requested to interview for head coach on Wednesday after Josh McDaniels spurned them.

Eagles wide receivers coach Mike Groh, who played quarterback at Virginia, seems the most likely in-house option to replace DeFilippo.

The 39-year-old coach certainly proved his mettle this season. Philadelphia OC Dan Reich is a candidate for the Colts head coach opening that became vacant this week after Josh McDaniels made a decision to stay the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. It's even possible that Zimmer and Vikings general manager Rick Spielman brought DeFilippo on board so that hope for Bridgewater can become something more of a reality.

"We are very excited to add John to our staff".

As we noted back in December, DeFilippo was as good as gone, as his work with Carson Wentz and the Raiders' David Carr has been widely recognized around the league.

The Ohio native, who grew up as the son of a coach, said he was on his 18 or 19 move, something that he has embraced as part of the job. New England at U.S. Bank Stadium after throwing for 373 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and a 106.1 passer rating, as well as catching one pass for one yard and one touchdown. Wentz threw 16 touchdowns to 14 interceptions as a rookie.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports that Stefanski could also serve as quarterbacks coach for the Giants.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, DeFilippo was a four-year letterwinner at quarterback at James Madison, where he helped lead the Dukes to a conference championship as a senior in 1999.
