Cris 'Cyborg' Justino, Yana Kunitskaya title bout planned for UFC 222

It was also noted that the UFC tried to book a UFC Women's Featherweight Championship Match between Cris Cyborg and Yana Kunitskaya, however, that didn't come to fruition either. The person spoke on a condition of anonymity because the bout has yet to be made official.

Edgar (22-5-1) stays on the card and will face undefeated Brian Ortega (13-0) in the co-main event.

The organization finally created a 145-pound division in early 2017, but Justino was unavailable to fight for the title.

Today, Edgar's and Kunitskaya's longtime manager, Ali Abdelaziz, indicated new fights were on the horizon for his clients.

The women's featherweight champion has been drafted in to save the show, set for March 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, after original headliner Holloway pulled out with a leg injury.

UFC 222 reportedly has a new headliner. While she had been targeted for a super-fight against UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes for sometime later this year, the UFC has apparently put that on the back-burner for now.

UFC president Dana White announced the moves on "UFC Tonight" on Fox Sports 2 on Wednesday, following a report earlier in the day on MMA Fighting. She now gets a huge upgrade in competition.

As for Kunitskaya, she had just recently inked a deal to join the UFC roster after amassing a 10-3 record with one no contest with her past three fights taking place under the Invicta FC banner, culminating in her winning the promotion's bantamweight belt.

Kunitskaya hinted at an opponent shift and said she's ready to take a step up. Now, with Holloway being injured, Edgar looks to keep active and follow up his impressive wins over fellow featherweight contenders Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez.
