Manhunt for pair charged in girl's death underway

URGENT: Manhunt underway for couple after 4-year-old girl found dead with 'severe burns'

A MI couple wanted for the murder of a 4-year-old has been arrested in South Georgia.

Gabby was found at the home of her mother and her partner January 1, according to the Daily Mail.

According to investigators, the mobile home that housed Barrett, her mother and the woman's boyfriend was littered with animal waste and contained guns and drugs.

Mugshots released Monday by Sumpter Township police officials appear to stem from charges filed against both Fields and Diaz following that incident.

A manhunt is underway for Diaz and Fields, and they are believed to be driving a black 2002 Chevy Cavalier bearing MI license plate DTR 1854, pictured below.

If you see Diaz and Fields, you should not confront them but call police.

In May 2016, Fields was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence after Diaz accused him of assaulting her multiple times and shooting her dog.

And now, Wayne County prosecutors have accused the girl's mother, 24-year-old Candice Diaz, and the mother's boyfriend, 28-year-old Brad Fields, of torturing and killing the girl, local police announced January 8.

A Smith & Wesson.38 Special was found in the bathroom heater floor grate, police said, and a.40-caliber Glock and a scale were found in the living room floor grate.

Diaz was arrested. While she was being processed, officers discovered she had a blank prescription form from a doctor's office.

Diaz has been in previous contact with the police.

It is unclear from records how Fields' case was resolved.

Fields has been in trouble with the law before.

In 2006, Fields pleaded guilty to carrying an unauthorized concealed weapon and served a year of probation.

Barrett said the last time he saw his granddaughter was a week or two before Halloween. Gabrielle was the daughter of Diaz.

"She seemed OK, playing outside with the other kids", he said.

Barrett spoke to WJBK about his daughter Sunday night at a candlelight vigil held in her memory. I know we may not have a lot of information at all, but, it just hurts'. "If I'd have known, I would have been there in a heartbeat".
