John Dickerson Set to Replace Charlie Rose on 'CBS This Morning'

John Dickerson, CBS News anchor, was named co-host of CBS This Morning on Tuesday.

CBS cut ties with Rose on November 21 after The Washington Post revealed a string of sexual misconduct allegations from women who worked with him over the years.

Dickerson, who anchors CBS News's Sunday morning show Face the Nation and serves as the network's chief Washington correspondent, will relocate to NY and join CBS This Morning co-hosts Norah O'Donnell‬ and Gayle King‬‬ on the show this Wednesday. In 2015, he was named host of "Face the Nation", succeeding its legendary host and anchor, Bob Schieffer.

The move the latest in a series of on-air changes at CBS News.

Dickerson is one of the most respected journalists in the business today, equally adept at driving the news cycle through probing interviews with world leaders as he is having thoughtful conversations with people around the country on issues that matter the most to them. "He's the flawless complement to Gayle and Norah and will help us continue the momentum "CBS This Morning" achieved over the last six years". CBS appointed Dickerson on the sixth anniversary of the morning show, which is in third place in the morning ratings but has made inroads with a newsy approach.

Rhodes said in his memo that he'll be in Washington later this week to begin the process of finding Dickerson's replacement there.

Virginia native Dickerson, 49 - son of pioneering newswoman Nancy Dickerson - was a correspondent for Time and Slate before joining CBS in 2009 as an analyst before becoming political director.

John said, "On the campaign trail I've collected complements about CBS This Morning's commitment to the news for years now. Can't think of better way to celebrate and kick off our next chapter", King said.

USA TODAY has contacted representatives from CBS This Morning for comment. CBS News will name a successor for him at "Face the Nation".
