Fire that destroyed home of a Moore accuser may be arson

Several weeks before the special election ultimately won by Doug Jones, Tina Johnson became the sixth accuser to step forward, accusing Roy Moore of groping her in his office in 1991.

On Tuesday morning, Johnson's home in Gadsen, Alabama went up in flames and the blaze is now being investigated for arson.

One of the women who accused Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of harassing her lost her home Wednesday in a fire that is now under investigation, the Etowah County Sheriff said.

No charges or warrants had been filed as of late Friday afternoon.

They also say they have a person of interest in custody, but they add it does not appear to be related to her allegations against Moore.

Police have not released the name of the man they believe may have been involved but he is not through to have been motivated by Johnson's remarks about Moore.

Johnson and her neighbor claim they saw a man with a history of public intoxication hanging around the home prior to the fire.

Johnson is among the women who publicly accused Moore of sexual misconduct. reports that by the time firefighters extinguished the blaze, everything inside the house was lost. "We have just the clothes on our backs".

"I was so humiliated and sickened", she said. "I got up there", he said, "and (the fire) was already pretty well started". Johnson said the young man asked a neighbor if she thought the house was "going to burn".

"It's too coincidental to me, but whatever they say, I'll go with".

Johnson and her family are now living in a motel. She said she is thankful for her neighbors, who have been supportive of her family. "They're pulling together and helping us out".
