The U.S. State Department announced Thursday the full resumption of visa services with Turkey, after a suspension that lasted for almost two months.
Shortly after the U.S. announcement, Ankara's embassy in Washington announced that Turkish missions in the United States will also resume full visa services for USA citizens matching the American move. Turkey also suspended the issuance of visas to United States citizens.
Turkey has blamed Gulen, a US-based Muslim leader, of being behind a failed coup attempt previous year, an accusation that Gulen has vehemently denied.
Turkey had "adhered to high level assurances" made to the United States and, as a result, the US State Department "is confident that the security posture has improved sufficiently to allow for the full resumption of visa services in Turkey", the embassy said in a statement.

The tension in US-Turkish relations worsened after the October 4 detention of US Consul General in Istanbul Metin Topuz, a Turkish citizen, on suspicion of having links with the Turkish designated terrorist organization FETO headed by Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen.
