Longtime Atlanta news anchor Amanda Davis dies after suffering stroke

Veteran Atlanta TV grapple Amanda Davis dead subsequent to affliction an enormous stroke on Tuesday night, her manager, Atlanta-based CBS 46, detailed.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed expressed his thoughts via tweet: "Saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Atlanta news icon, Amanda Davis".

She was arrested and charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown Atlanta in 2012 while she was at WAGA. "After arrests for driving under the influence, Davis did a three-part series previous year revealing her alcoholism for the first time and her road to recovery". And she marveled over the three-part series Davis did in 2016 about her alcoholism. The Clark-Atlanta University graduate and Emmy-winning journalist spent 26 years at WAGA-TV, now a Fox affiliate.

She also worked to find permanent homes for Georgia foster care children and began this community project in 1997 with a series called "Home for the Holidays" in which 32 children were placed in homes in the first year. On Wednesday, she passed away after being hospitalized for what was described as a "massive" stroke.

'Stay strong, keep praising the Lord, ' Davis wrote.
