Modesto Shoppers Flock to the Mall for Last-Minute Purchases, Time with Santa

The number of Brits heading to Boxing Day sales is expected to be significantly up on last year

"I just thought it would be a nice day to come out and shop and just look around and relax and not be on a mission", said Wynne Mcnary, who walked the mall with her son and Grandson.

"It's better to go out during the day versus closer towards at night because everybody is out and about", one last-minute shopper said. "You can always get stuff clearance and markdowns and stuff like that", another shopper said. "Yesterday there weren't as many people at all", one shopper said.

Waiting until the last minute isn't something she really wanted to do. "But it's actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be". "And a lot of people are coming out. You get all of the sales people to yourself so it's just ideal".

"We've been talking about getting Santa pictures, but we finally did two days before Christmas", said Stelma. "So I don't know what to really buy him, so I'm buying for myself".

And last-minute shoppers are certain to help. "I do like the excitement and being out in the hustle and bustle, so I kind of save some things for the last minute", said Johnson.

Procrastinators don't fear! There were still parking spots available, which is good news for everyone, whether you're just swinging by to pick up an online order, or if you chose today to start your shopping.

Every checkout lane was open Saturday afternoon as shoppers at Meijer in Lima waited in line on the busiest shopping day of the year.
