Josh Rosen Doesn't Really Want To Play For The Cleveland Browns

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen is joining the ranks of college players skipping their final bowl game, but he's not doing it by choice.

Rosen has privately expressed his concern about declaring for the draft if the Browns were going to take him with the No. 1 overall pick. He's reportedly expressed concerns about ending up with the Browns. It's hard to blame anyone for not wanting to play in Cleveland, but Rosen heading back to UCLA and risking further injury behind a struggling offensive line would make less sense than being the top overall pick.

According to college football reporter Bruce Feldman, Rosen will not be playing in UCLA's Cactus Bowl matchup with Kansas State Tuesday under doctor's orders.

Rosen would certainly fit a major need for Cleveland, who expect to hold two top-five picks after acquiring the Houston Texans' first round pick a year ago in order to pick Deshaun Watson.

Rumors of that nature circulated this fall about USC's Sam Darnold, but he denied them in November.

"I didn't say anything about the Browns", Darnold told reporters after the Trojans' practice on November 27.

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen said at a recent press conference that he plans to look at the National Football League after the Cactus Bowl, in which the Bruins are slated to battle Kansas State on December 26. Crosstown rival Sam Darnold at USC, Wyoming's Josh Allen, and Heisman victor Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma will also contend for the top pick if they enter the draft. All Dorsey would have to do is wait until January 16 to tip his hand, and even then it would be unlikely he would make his choice public with the draft still more than three months into the future beyond the January 15 declaration deadline. Kizer was selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2017 draft. "Quarterback is unique - we'll take a few licks here and there, but nothing like the beating those guys take". "I don't think you can call it a trend that people are starting to miss bowl games". But if it isn't, that's OK, too.
