Microsoft bringing Windows Defender Application Guard to Windows 10 Pro users

New message in Paint warns of its removal from Windows

Netflix now supports HDR on Windows 10, the media giant today detailed. Intel's 7th generation and higher CPUs provide that capability needed to play the Netflix HDR10 encodes.

If you use Netflix via the Edge browser or the Netflix app on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, you can now enjoy High Dynamic Range (HDR) support.

Of course, in addition to the above, you will need an HDR10-compatible monitor to actually enjoy all the HDR content Netflix now has to offer. However, HDR support is only available on its premium plan which in Malaysia will cost you RM51. It started off with Intel and Nvidia developing GPUs that use the required 10 bits-per-channel for increased RGB colour support.

The good news is that the latest versions of Windows 10 have fixed the flaw. Netflix has many shows that are HDR enabled like Stranger Things 2, Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Iron Fist and many more.

Netflix has supported both 4K and HDR on Microsoft's Xbox One family of devices for some time, and being a UWP app, PCs and Xbox should run similar builds, so you might be surprised that Windows 10 didn't support HDR already. Those using the integrated GPU will also need version 4708 of the graphics drivers or better. They say any Windows 10 systems that haven't yet received the recent Fall Creators Update are vulnerable to the attack, and it works against multiple versions of Windows and different types of hardware.

There is a silver lining though, as Netflix is looking for help in bringing HDR playback to more browsers and players.

Note: Devices must be enabled for HDR by the manufacturer.

However, just applying the Fall Creators Update is not enough to block the spoofing attack, according to SYSS.

GPU: 1050, 1060, 1070, and 1080 cards with at least 3GB of video RAM. The other obvious requirement is an HDR-capable display as well. HDR capabilities are now available on high-end TV models as well as some flagship smartphones like the Apple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30 among others.
