5-star DE Micah Parsons commits to Penn State

Micah Parsons heard plenty of sales pitches from Penn State fans during his Sept. 16 visit to Beaver Stadium

The 247Sports Crystal Ball favors the Nittany Lions, but Parsons' final official visit was with the Bulldogs.

Due to FERPA protection, Parsons is unnamed in the self-reported violation records and is referred to as a "2018 prospective student-athlete". He also took pictures with Eddie George, the former Ohio State running back, and others on ESPN's College GameDay set.

It appears Parsons' recruitment came down to the wire.

Micah Parsons is one of the top prospects in the country and will be announcing his decision on Wednesday.

Parsons' pledge is certain to boost Penn State's recruiting ranking.

According to reports published Tuesday, Ohio State gave Parsons preferential treatment during College GameDay's visit to Columbus, when the Buckeyes were playing Oklahoma.

Parsons was then back to the drawing board, and took visits to Georgia, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Penn State before ultimately deciding on the latter.

"What we're doing on the football field, what we're doing from a facility perspective, and what we're doing from a staff perspective, and then recruiting, I keep seeing us make progress every single day", head coach James Franklin said. They have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country and have a number of top recruits set to decide today.

Penn State is looking to replace highly-productive middle linebacker Jason Cabinda, so there is an opening at the position.

He'll play defense for the Lions, either at defensive end or linebacker, a spot where the Lions are looking thin for 2018. The case of Ohio State's efforts to recruit five star defensive end Micah Parsons from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
