Girl's body found; mom's boyfriend charged with hiding death

Police arrested 32-year-old Kimrey late Friday and charged him with concealing a death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, larceny and possession of stolen property.

Grace's expert panel includes forensic psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Bober, investigator Vincent Hill, syndicated radio talk host Dave Mack, and child advocate lawyer Ashley Willcott. At the time, her mother, Kristy Woods, said she put her little girl to bed on Sunday night and woke up to find her gone. Additional charges are pending, according to KSAT.

Since the news of Mariah's death, a memorial with flowers and stuffed animals from community members has been started near her home, at 2404 Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville.

The toddler, who was reported missing on November 27, was found dead on Saturday near her Jacksonville, North Carolina home.

The body was in a creek in Pender County about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the home Mariah shared with Kimrey in Jacksonville, FBI spokeswoman Shelley Lynch said in a statement with few other details.

Search teams expanded the search for the missing Onslow County girl to neighboring Pender County half a day after authorities arrested her mother's boyfriend in connection to her disappearance.

The couple contacted the Onslow County Sheriff's Office early the next morning to say the girl had disappeared, officials said.

"It is with deep sadness that our investigation leads us to believe 3-year-old Mariah Woods is deceased", Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said during the news conference.

Kimrey's mother and stepfather live in Mebane.

The girl's father, Alex Woods, has said he has doubts about Woods' version of events.

"Somebody just walks right in there, grabs a 3-year-old out of the bed, she didn't cry, she didn't scream?" he had said before Kimery's arrest. Investigators also sorted through 95,000 pounds of trash by hand, searching for items of interest, the sheriff's office said. "Nobody heard nothing? Four people in the house, two adults and two babies and somebody just comes, snatches the baby up and walks out?"
