Time for US Military Families to Leave S. Korea: Sen. Lindsey Graham

The United Nations Security Council is set to meet later this month to discuss North Korea's nuclear programme after the reclusive country tested an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching anywhere in the continental USA earlier this week.

These aircraft will stay in South Korea for the week.

The missile's large size was immediately apparent in the photos, which analysts said could provide for a more powerful propulsion system.

But it is the stealth fighters that experts say pose the biggest threat to Pyongyang.

About 28,500 USA troops are stationed in South Korea to deter potential aggression from the North.

"It is an open, all-out provocation against the DPRK, which may lead to a nuclear war any moment", it continued.

Graham said this development showed conflict is approaching.

But it also put up bravado over the presence of the F-22s and F-35s.

To celebrate the missile launched last Wednesday, the ruling Workers Party's official daily Rodong Sinmun covered its front page with color photographs showing thousands of tightly packed soldiers and people applauding in Pyongyang's Kim Il-Sung square, which was decorated with large portraits of the North's late leaders. "We're in a race to be able to solve this problem".

It is scheduled to last five days and comes less than a week after the rogue state's latest intercontinental ballistic missile test, which Pyongyang claimed was capable of hitting the USA mainland. "They will be the first victims if a war is started on the Korean peninsula".

The United States, Britain, France and six other countries on Friday requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on human rights abuses in North Korea, which is already under fire for its missile and nuclear tests.

At the California forum, McMaster said Kim was extremely unlikely to change his behavior "without some significant new actions in the form of much more severe sanctions" and "complete enforcement of the sanctions that are in place".

"But what we want to do is convince others, it is in their interest to do more", McMaster said.

"North Korea is continuing to pursue its ICBM in a methodical and pragmatic manner, making progress in incremental steps", said Joseph Bermudez from 38 North, a Washington-based North Korea monitoring project.

"I would need to see a bit more differences to fully believe they made this themselves", Dave Schmerler, a research associate at the James Martin Centre for Nonproliferation Studies, said of the launch transport vehicle.
