Missing North Carolina girl presumed dead, authorities say

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods. Earl Kimrey, who lived with Mariah and her mother, was taken into custody by investigators at the Onslow County Sheriff's Office on Friday.

The authorities said Kimrey faces charges of concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.

Newly released warrants from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office indicate that Kimery 'allegedly knowingly concealed the unnatural death of Mariah Woods, and secretly hid the child's body'.

Records reportedly show that Kimrey broke into a home and stole two dressers around the time Woods disappeared, according to WNCN.

Woods' mother, Kristy Woods, told WITN-TV in Greenville that she last saw her daughter at about 11 p.m. Sunday when she checked on her.

Her mom says Mariah woke up in the middle of the night and her boyfriend told her to go back to sleep. "Our search for Mariah is not over", Miller said.

He's being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $1,010,000 bond.

"We all hope and pray to find her alive, but it is still extremely important we find her". She has been missing from her home since Monday.

It has been five days since the little girl vanished from her home in the dead of night.

The statement did not say if Kimrey has a lawyer.

Federal Bureau of Investigation officials said in a release Saturday that they have evidence to believe Mariah is deceased.

Officials said 730 volunteers participated in a search for Mariah on Friday.

Officials said more than 700 people came Friday to join the search for the toddler. The missing child's case has shifted to a homicide case.

They were sent straight to the FBI's base in Quantico, Virginia, for testing on Wednesday afternoon.

The sheriff said Wilmington Police Department officers and e New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies were searching on horseback, and boats from the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries were in on the search.
