Nagaland U-19 girls all out for 2 runs

The Nagaland U-19 women’s cricket team were dismissed for 2 runs against Kerala on Friday

The ongoing Women's U-19 One Day League which is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had featured such a happening where Kerala bowled Nagaland all-out for two runs.

Aleena Surendran was easily the worst of the Kerala bowlers, with figures of 3-2-2-0 (not only did she concede every single run, but was also the only one to go wicketless).

The Nagaland women's U-19 cricket team posted one of the most incredible scorecards in cricket history as the entire team managed to project two runs before they were all-out in 11.4 overs. The Kerala team had achieved the target of two runs just in two balls, the first ball was wide and on the second ball, the opener won the match for the team by hitting a boundary.

Kerala coach Suman Sharma hailed her girls for their effort.

"The Nagaland Cricket Association was struggling to put a team together because we didn't have any academy for girls".

As per the Lodha Committee recommendations, the BCCI will now have to include the Northeastern states in their accredited tournaments. Bihar and Nagaland are the only two sides to remain winless in either group.

Nagaland women, on the other hand, looked just hapless and no batter could stop the procession.

Despite the win, Kerala failed to qualify for the last-four stage, as they could win just two of five games they played. Most players in the Nagaland team are 15- and 16-year olds. The mortification happened at the JKC College ground in Guntur where the North East team was bowled out for the lowest total in women's cricket, with nine batsmen getting out for ducks.

Jamir attributed the abysmal performance to lack of facilities, absence of coaching and a dearth of funds. In 2016, four U-19 Nagaland players - Sedezalie, Nagaho Chishi, Puchu Dev and Tahmeed - played for the combined team of BCCI.
