Apple's 4-inch iPhone SE may have a successor soon

The new smartphone dubbed as the iPhone SE 2 is in news again with reports claiming that it would be released in the first quarter of 2018, which means it will come two years after its predecessor was launched.

The iPhone SE is meant to cater to the needs of the budget smartphone hunters who want to use an iPhone. This device will be made for the countries like China and India, where there is a huge market for the premium smartphones, with a price tag less than $400 (₹24,000). Wistron has also set up manufacturing for Apple in India, and is now churning out the original iPhone SE in India itself. Notably, the iPhone SE was launched in March 2016.

The report further states that the second-generation iPhone SE will be assembled exclusively by Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron at its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, India. The earlier speculations have tipped that the device might feature a modest update with a faster chipset. As the SE was significantly less expensive than Apple's luxury phones, it may very well be that the company is looking to focus their efforts on increasing their representation in the huge market that is India. Could we see Face ID, wireless charging, and a lack of the headphone jack on the next iPhone SE?

Unfortunately, there is no indication on if the iPhone SE will receive a refreshed or all-new exterior design to go along with its upgraded internals. Also, it is tipped that the iPhone SE 2 might be priced starting from $450.
