Charlie Rose accused of sexual harassment

Charlie Rose

Kelly's story about Rose came one day after the CBS This Morning anchor was accused of sexual misconduct, including groping and lewd remarks, by eight women in a Washington Post report.

Eight women who worked for Rose or tried to work from him have accused Rose of various misconduct, including groping them, walking naked in front of them and telling one that he dreamed about her swimming nude.

USA talk show host Charlie Rose has been suspended by several television networks following allegations of sexual harassment.

"There is no excuse for this alleged behavior", an emotional Norah O'Donnell said in the opening segment of the show.

An internal memo said the decision "followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior".

"Charlie does not get a pass here".

Rose was a co-host on the morning show "CBS This Morning" and a correspondent for its long-running Sunday night news magazine "60 Minutes".

"It takes a lot of courage for these women to come forward", O'Donnell said. "Allegations Ailes denied but which I know are true because I lived it".

Following the Post report, Business Insider published accounts from three additional unnamed women (they could not say if they were the same women cited by the Post).

One said he groped her breasts as she drove him in a vehicle. "Still, I wanted to share a story with you not about harassment, but of an underlying dynamic between men and women that contributes to this culture in which inappropriate conduct goes unaddressed".

Rose, in response to the allegations, acknowledged he had "behaved insensitively at times" and is "greatly embarrassed". Godfrey Ryan says when she complained to Yvette Vega, the show's executive producer, she dismissed it as "Charlie being Charlie".

The CBS This Morning co-host is facing disturbing new allegations. "There are so many incredible people here, especially on this show", she said, looking over at King.

Rose said in a statement that he "deeply apologized" for what he admitted was "inappropriate behavior". "I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken", Rose said in a statement to the Post.

She added: "I am deeply rocked by this".

"I think that we have to make this matter to woman - the woman that have spoken up, the women who have not spoken up because they are afraid, I'm hoping that now they will take the step to speak up too and that this becomes a moment of truth", she continued.
