Tracking rain chances and colder weather for Saturday

Lake Effect snow showers around for the first half of Sunday

There could be an isolated shower in the afternoon but the main line of rain is expected to move in overnight. Patchy fog before 8:00 AM. Daytime highs will be near 60 by the afternoon with a return of a southwest surface wind around 10 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

The holiday week will begin Monday with sunshine and temperatures peaking around 66 degrees before becoming partly cloudy at night with a low around 51, according to the National Weather Service. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 20 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour.

Thanksgiving week is looking dry, mild, and sunny.

Sunny skies are forecast for Sunday and Monday with high temperatures in the 60s. A couple of inches of snow will be possible in ski country.

Today patchy drizzle is possible through about noon otherwise the question remains how quickly clouds clear from west to east. Think highs may reach the mid 70s west of Manhattan with upper 60s-low 70s for most spots further east. Winds S 15-30 miles per hour. South wind around 5 miles per hour.

The big weather story is the small chance for rain this morning then again tonight.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, low around 23.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, low around 28.

Thursday: Partly sunny, high near 40. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. If this is the case, we'll be flirting with some daily record highs in a few spots this afternoon near and west of the metro. It's a large area of high pressure to our south that controls our weather to start the week, with the brief warming trend a result of that high sliding off the coast later Tuesday.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low about 30.
