Operation Kund humane, ensures to save surrendered militants: IGP Kashmir

Majid Khan had made a name for himself as the goalkeeper of an Anantnag-based cricket and football club which he joined when he was in the ninth standard

"We think two more militants are still hiding in the area, so operation is going on", Khan said.

He also claimed that Pakistan was using social media to recruit militants in Kashmir.

Munir Khan said that the J&K Police stood by its "commitment towards local militants who want to rejoin their families and get back in the mainstream" by offering them generous terms of surrender. "We are working on how to get those (militants) into mainstream who are here and how to rehabilitate them in future".

A militant and a soldier were killed on the first day of the ongoing operation on Nov 14. "So the search operation is on", he said.

"Pakistan has launched a relentless social media campaign to motivate youths to join militancy", Khan added saying the religious exploitation also pushes youth toward the militancy.

"Most of them, you will find, are college or school dropouts".

Khan told news agency ANI that one of the three terrorists arrested is injured and is undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Replying to a question, he said it is a point of discussion on what was the driving force or lure behind youths joining militants.

A day after arresting three militants in Kulgam district, the J&K Police, Indian Army, and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) held a press conference at Police Control Room Srinagar on Thursday.

The two militants paraded before media were identified as Shams-ul-Viqar and Bilal Shaikh.

IG CRPF at the occasion said there is a greater synergy between all the security forces to conduct anti-militancy operations. "The 15-25 age group is immature and is unable to differentiate between good and evil".

On Wednesday, the Centre chose to intensify anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with security forces being instructed to eliminate those who continue to indulge in violence in the Valley, The Tribune reported. Army will calibrate on application of force during the encounters and post encounter situations.
