Morocco and Tunisia qualify for 'Arab-flavoured' football World Cup

BREAKING Tunisia qualify for 2018 World Cup

For Tunisia, the barren draw they recorded against Libya on Saturday was enough to get them another World Cup ticket after they narrowly missed out at the Brazil 2014 edition.

A pair of quickfire first half goals fired Morocco to their first World Cup in two decades and condemned Ivory Coast to a defeat that means they will miss the showpiece event for the first time since 2002.

Moroccan fans have set up riots in the center of Brussels, Belgium, after Morocco defeated Côte d'Ivoire 2-0 in the qualifying round for the next World Cup in Russia, AFP reported.

Diving saves kept Youssef Msakni, Anice Badri and Ghilane Chaalani from scoring as Nashnush proved a one-man roadblock.

Tunisia and Morocco have completed the roster of teams that would represent Africa at the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup.

But after weathering an early storm, including a potential penalty call, Morocco scored two goals in the space of five minutes to put themselves on their way to the finals, in which they last appeared in 1998, in France.

The Tunisians secured a fifth appearance at the tournament by topping the table with 14 points, one more than the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gabon had seven and bottom-placed Mali five. Before today's matches, Morocco had 9 points while the Ivorians had 8 points; meaning the victor of the match would qualify.

Libya had been forced to play all of their home games at neutral venues, including Tunisia, because of a Federation Internationale de Football Association ban on internationals in the nation, where the security situation is judged unsafe for visiting teams.
