IPhone X screens experiencing problems in cold weather; Apple working on fix

Reddit user darus214 revealed the issue in a thread this week, writing: 'I've noticed that my iPhone X screen becomes very unresponsive as soon as I step outside. However, the screen starts to work again after a few seconds.

A fix was said to be just around the corner, and sure enough: Apple has just sent out a patch that fixes that rando-replacement once and for all. iOS 11.1.1 is now available, with this fix marked as the flagship feature.

A number of users have highlighted the problem on Reddit.

When Apple fixes this issue, it may actually become the best iPhone for cold weather usage.

Some users have speculated that the changes in light from indoors to outdoors could be the culprit, due to the iPhone X's use of a front-facing infrared camera and ambient light sensor for Face ID authentication and TrueDepth photography features.

The company has announced it will try to fix the issue in an upcoming software update following reports that phones become unresponsive as soon as they are taken outside.

Apple does suggest suitable temperature condition for its iOS device for optimum performance.

The update comes three days after some iPhone and iPad owners began reporting the issue once they had updated their devices to iOS 11.1.

But, in many cases, it appears the issue is occurring even when users are within the right temperature range.

Also, if you haven't been able to get Siri's attention of late by saying "Hey, Siri", well, Apple fixed that too in this update.

Just yesterday, the firm rolled out another update for iOS 11, following complaints of a weird autocorrect issue that change the letter "i" to an A with a [?] symbol.
