Pulwama encounter: JeM chief Masood Azhar's nephew killed; soldier martyred

The nephew of Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar was among three militants killed in an overnight gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

"Doesn't matter if he is Masood Azhar's nephew or anyone else, we aim at neutralising all terrorists no matter where they belong", he added.

In a press conference, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Muneer Khan said that Jaish-e-Muhammad has owned Talha Rasheed and therefore J&K police will request MHA to inform Pakistan to claim Talha's body.

One Army jawan Vrahma Pal Singh was also killed during the clash whereas a civilian identified as Tariq Ahmed Bhat received a bullet injury as protests by locals broke out during the encounter.

Three terrorists have been killed and the firing has stopped, Army officials said.

The police also recovered two AK-47s and a pistol from the site of the encounter.

A local news agency in Kashmir, GNS said a JeM spokesperson confirmed to them the identity of the militants and accepted that Rashid was Azhar's nephew.

"The recovery of the U.S. made carbine shows the complicity between JeM and Pakistan".

The weapon is mostly used by the US Army in its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The GOC Victor Force, Major General B.S. Raju said that the security forces have recovered M4 carbine, a USA made weapon used by North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces, from the gunfight site.

Amid pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans Waseem was laid to rest, they said.

Major General B.S. Raju, General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Army's "Victor Force" said at the press conference, "We've recovered M4 carbine, a United States made weapon used by North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces. This clearly shows the complicity between the JeM and Pakistan and its nefarious designs in Kashmir", he said.

He said there are about 16-20 more JeM militants in the Valley. "We are in a firm belief that Allah will soon bless us with the freedom", he said. "It is pertinent to mention that this M4 carbine colt rifle was in the social media in the recent time". When they opened fired, the forces retaliated and gunned down the terrorists.
