Amano's visit to Iran due to United States misconduct over JCPOA

Iran on Saturday displayed a surface-to-surface missile as part of events marking the anniversary of the 1979 U.S. embassy takeover and hostage crisis.

A crowd chanted "Death to Israel" and "Down with the U.S." during the celebration. Additionally, a senior official accused President Donald Trump of a "crazy" return to confrontation with Tehran.

The US Congress must now make a decision regarding the nuclear deal, which saw Iran agree to limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

They gathered at the former embassy where Iranian student revolutionaries climbed over the walls on November 4, 1979, and seized 52 Americans, holding them hostage for 444 days.

Responding to Trump and his administration's attempts to isolate Iran diplomatically, Khamenei said his foes in the U.S. He called the USA the "eternal enemy" of Iran.

Iran showed off its most powerful missile, the liquid-filled, surface-to-surface Qadr, which the semiofficial Fars News agency says it can travel 1,243 miles, including to Israel.

Mr Shamkhani, alluding to Mr Trump's threats against North Korea, said even U.S. allies know that Mr Trump "has no power to realise his bluffs, against Iran, too". He also laid additional sanctions on Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In an address to the Saturday rally in Tehran, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said that the US's foreign policy had failed.

"Instead of confronting Iran directly, the United States should pursue a different strategy-one predicated on sticking to the JCPOA and engaging with Iran and other regional players on the broader set of security challenges in the Middle East", he said. Many Iranians call it the "den of spies".

A recent survey conducted by the Afkar Iranian Center, a public opinion polling institute, indicates that 94.5 percent of Iranians do not trust the United States.

Hasan Shorjeh, a retired teacher carrying a "Down with America" placard, said there was no point in respecting the nuclear deal if the United States doesn't hold up its end of the agreement. "I don't see any solution in my child's lifetime, let alone mine".
