NYPD gathering evidence for possible Weinstein arrest

HBO star alleges Harvey Weinstein raped her

Police in New York City said Friday that they think an actress who accused Harvey Weinstein of raping her twice in 2010 "is credible", saying that authorities continue to gather evidence for a possible arrest warrant.

The Manhattan district attorney has also assigned a senior sex crimes prosecutor to the case, working in collaboration with NY police, his office confirmed.

Boardwalk Empire actor Paz de la Huerta claimed the movie mogul raped her twice at her apartment in NY in 2010. She said that both encounters happened in her apartment, about a month apart: The first after Weinstein offered her a ride home and then another time after he showed up unannounced in her building lobby.

"He pushed me on the bed. and it happened all very suddenly", she said.

He faces criminal investigations in New York, Los Angeles and London.

The infamous movie producer has come under fire, with dozens of women accusing him of sexually harassing or attacking them. This happened seven years ago, and we found corroboration along the way. "The investigation is on-going".

She told CBS that she had been drinking that night and was in no state to agree to having sex. "No doubt", Boyce said.

"He hushed me and said, 'Let's talk about this in your apartment, '" de la Huerta said. Boyce said the NY police were first contacted about de la Huerta's account October 25, a week before she spoke to the magazine.

In a statement his representative said: "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr Weinstein".

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they speak publicly, which de la Huerta and Guiterrez have done. Vance's office said a senior prosecutor has been assigned but didn't comment further.
