Deshaun Watson suffers torn ACL, lost for season

NFL Week 8 Recap Star-studded matchup between Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson dominates headlines

Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage said there are things Deshaun Watson can do that he won't be able to replace as he enters the starting lineup after the rookie suffered a torn ACL in practice Thursday. He also was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for October. After the rookie's injury, Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham, who's also out for the season due to an injury, made a decision to send a motivational text to Watson.

In comments distributed by the Clemson program (h/t College Football Talk), Swinney said he spoke with Watson and "we are disappointed". But, he is a person who has had some setbacks in his life, and always comes back stronger.

The Clemson product, who won a national championship in January, will miss the rest of this season at least. "Since he went through the rehab before, he knows what it takes". He passed for 402 yards and four touchdowns in the Texans' 41-38 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in one of the most exciting games of the season.

The injury occurred mid-practice and was a non-contact play. Watson was on pace to throw 43 touchdown passes in 2017, which would've given him one of the top-eight single-season performances of all-time. He was tied for the league lead with 19 touchdown passes and had gained almost 2,000 total yards (1,699 passing and 269 rushing). He started all 30 games the last two years here. "I have no doubt he will come back from this".
