Trump responds to his Twitter account getting temporarily deleted

Trump's Twitter account temporarily disappeared

Twitter is already grappling with criticism of its handling of account suspensions, user abuse and changes to its terms of service. The reason this happened?

There was praise on the network for the employee, and the president himself made light of the outage, tweeting on Friday: "My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee".

On the last day of work, a Twitter employee deactivated Donald Trump's personal account.

"If a random customer support employee at Twitter can delete the President's account, could they also tweet as him?" they continued.

For those few minutes, visitors to Trump's account were simply met with the message, "Sorry, that page doesn't exist!"

Mr Trump joined Twitter in March 2009.

And that they were "conducting a full internal review". The page mostly contains retweets of Trump's posts from @realDonaldTrump.

It has declined further explanation, raising questions not only about its own safeguards but on Trump's heavy reliance on a single platform to broadcast his views.

- Security concerns -"It is shocking that some random Twitter employee could shut down the president's account".

Twitter's rules forbid using the service to make violent threats, either direct or indirect.

Roger Stone, a longtime associate of Trump, was suspended by Twitter on Saturday after lashing out at CNN anchor Don Lemon.

"This is real collusion and dishonesty", he said in a second tweet.

The president is aware of the issue and the White House is in touch with Twitter, said an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a delicate matter. Recently, for instance, North Korea said that it considered one of his tweets - which said that the North Korean leadership "won't be around much longer - a "declaration of war" and that as such it could start shooting down United States bombers". The New York Times reported earlier this year that members of his staff are desperate for him to slow down with the tweets. As for Trump, he's back to tweeting and hasn't missed a beat since the account went down.
