South Africa Win T20I Series Against Bangladesh, David Miller Hammers Fastest Ton

AB de Villiers South Africa

David Miller described his innings as "pretty special" as he smashed the fastest global T20 century against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom on Sunday.

His 35-ball ton came 10 balls quicker than Richard Levi's previous record.

Bangladesh was 141 all out in 18.3 overs, another heavy defeat on a hard five-week tour for the visiting team.

The South African threatened to take Bangladesh's attack apart thereafter, and latched upon some wayward bowling from Mohammad Saifuddin in the penultimate over by striking the first five balls over the fence for six, before hitting the last ball for a single.

South Africa whitewashed the Test, ODI and T20I series against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh struggled to chase South Africa's 224 and were all out for 141.

He hit Rubel Hossain for two back to back boundaries and then whipped one wide of long-on for a brace before finally driving one wide of sweeper cover for a two and bringing up his century off just 35 balls. Miller said. "Don't quite know what went on there but I was just trying to watch the ball and back myself".

"It's a really special feeling", Miller told SuperSport. Miller joined Evin Lewis and Yuvraj Singh as the only cricketers to hit five or more sixes in an over in a T20l.

Even more painful for Bangladesh was the fact that Miller was dropped on 0, when Mushfiqur Rahim couldn't grab a gloved chance down the leg-side. This was a special innings as in getting a century in 35 balls in the course of the 36-ball knock, Miller created an global T20 record.

Soumya Sarkar made 44 but South Africa was always in control, with stand-in captain JP Duminy and fellow spinner Aaron Phangiso taking two wickets each.
