Houston Texans kneel during anthem in protest of Bob McNair comments

Week 8 Preview Houston Texans at Seattle Seahawks

Although only a small minority of the league participated in such protests, President Donald Trump demanded players stand for the national anthem.

Texans players were disappointed by the fact that owner Bob McNair didn't meet with them on Friday to explain his quote about not having "inmates" run the "prison". It was reported that team was planning on making a gesture before the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks in response to the comments.

But the network's "Post Game Show" aired a brief clip of Houston's players collectively taking a knee with arms linked along the sideline during the national anthem.

Before the game, writer and civil rights activist Sean King tweeted that he'd spoken with several Texans about the protest and many said they really didn't want to play.

The players that remained standing were: LB Brian Peters, P Shane Lechler, long snapper Jon Weeks, FB Jay Prosch, T Breno Giacomini, C Nick Martin, C Greg Mancz, TE Ryan Griffin, QB Tom Savage G and G Xavier Su'a-Filo, who is of Samoan decent.

McNair, who first apologized in a statement on Friday, released a second statement regarding his comments on Saturday. "He's fired!" Trump said at the time.

Comment below and give us your thoughts on players from the Texans kneeling and sitting during the anthem in protest of McNair.

McNair issued two public apologies via statements distributed by the Texans. I never meant to offend anyone and I was not referring to our players.

He's also caught just 10 touchdown passes in 33 games with the Seahawks after catching 46 in 63 games with the Saints in the four seasons he spent as a starter prior to being traded.
