Sushma Swaraj seeks investigation in Sherin Mathews adoption

Father of Sherin Mathews on Suicide Watch in Dallas Co. Jail

Sherin Mathews, known as Saraswati before she was adopted by OCI (overseas citizens of India) parents from the United States, went missing on October 7.

A video of the three-year-old Indian American girl Sherin Mathews, from the day she was adopted from a Bihar Orphanage, is surfacing on Social Media and it shows both the foster parents extremely happy while receiving the toddler.

Wesley Matthews is now in the Dallas County jail on suicide watch.

Mathews, who changed his previous statement on the girl's disappearance and said the death was due to choking milk, was charged with the first-degree felony, which is punishable by life or from 5 to 99 years in prison. Autopsy results that will determine the cause of death are pending.

"Wesley Mathews then physically assisted the 3-year-old girl in drinking the milk", according to a affidavit of his arrest. He said he went to check on her after about 15 minutes. The father said he could no longer feel his daughter's pulse as she choked, and confessed to disposing of his dead daughter's body.

Sherin Mathews - who was adopted by the Mathews 16 months ago from an orphanage in Nalanda, Bihar, and suffered from cognitive and communication issues - went missing early morning on October 7.

Sini Mathews has been interrogated twice by police - once without lawyers present - according to her new attorneys Mitchell Nolte and Greg Gibbs. "At the same time, that information may implicate her". In his latest statement, the man who hails from Kerala, told the police that he removed her body from her house. But orphanage owner Babitha Kumari told television station WFAA the girl had no problems and that Wesley and Sini Mathews appeared loving when they were going through the adoption process. Mathews admitted to transferring her body elsewhere. "We loved her laughter", Kumari said.

On Oct. 7, Mathews reported the child missing, claiming that he punished her for not drinking her milk and told her to stand outside.
