Sony Xperia XZ1 goes on sale in Canada

Both R1 and R1 Plus will be available in the market from 10 November through Amazon, Flipkart, Sony centres and other offline retailers across India. Both these phones feature a 5.2-inch HD display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core (4 x 1.2GHz Cortex A53 & 4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex A53) processor clubbed with Adreno 505 GPU to take care the graphics content. Unfortunately, unlike some of Sony's more expensive devices, there aren't any front-facing speakers to be seen here. Both the smartphones feature similar hardware and only differs in the RAM and internal storage department. Further interested customers can also pre-register for the phones starting today October 27 on Amazon. The Xperia XZ1 infact was the first Android Oreo smartphone announced.

Apart from that, both of them comes with a 5.2-inch HD LCD display, they are powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset and are now running on Android Nougat 7.0, although the company claims that will receive the Android Oreo update pretty soon. For selfies, these phones have an 8MP front camera with 76 degree wide angle for clicking selfies even in low-light and for group selfies.

Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, 4G with support for LTE Cat. The Xperia XZ1 comes with a 5.2-inch full-HD display protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It will also get the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon.


The devices measure 146 × 73.2 × 8.89 mm and weighs 154 grams.

The R1 Plus and R1 are dual SIM (4G) smartphones.

Coming to the optics, the Xperia R1 camera is with 13 mega pixel image sensor on the back, made by Sony itself. Both the smartphones also support Uplink Data Compression (UDC) that allows users to download web pages up to 50 percent faster for its improved data transmission technology.
