Sherri Papini: Mystery of male DNA on California mother 'abducted by women'

What happened to Sherri Papini? New sketches, details released nearly a year after California mom's disappearance

Officials said the abductors branded her with a message before she was released. last year, her husband told "Good Morning America" that the suspects may have been trying to humiliate Papini by cutting off her long blonde hair and branding her. Bosenko declined to elaborate on the branding, saying only that it was a message, not a symbol.

Police said that in the days before her disappearance, Mrs Papini and a male acquaintance texted each other "in an attempt to meet while he was in California".

Sketches of the Hispanic women Ms Papini alleges kidnapped her were released nearly a year after her disappearance.

The sheriff's office also revealed in a Wednesday press release that Papini and a male acquaintance from MI were involved in a "online/texting relationship".

New information about the California mom who was kidnapped last November after she was kidnapped while jogging, brutally attacked and found barely alive on the side of road weeks later. Now, for the first time in six months, investigators are going public with more details that they've learned, as well as sketches of Papini's alleged abductors, perhaps with the hope of generating more leads - because so far, they don't seem to have much.

Officers also revealed Ms Papini had been involved in a texting relationship with a MI man before her disappearance.

After she was taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital and checked over, investigators photographed her injuries, including her broken nose and inked message on her right shoulder.

Officials said they were not aware of a motive for the apparent kidnapping.

Papini told police she was abducted at gunpoint and held captive by two armed Hispanic females, one in her 20s or 30s and the other between 40 and 50, who spoke Spanish the majority of the time.

Sergeant Brian Jackson, of Shasta County Sheriff's Office, said detectives had looked in to Papini's alleged relationship with a male acquaintance from MI.

A truck driver travelling northbound spotted Ms Papini on the side of the highway and pulled over to help her before calling 911.

In a statement released to the Record Searchlight Wednesday evening, Keith thanked all the people who have supported the Papini family over the previous year.

She told authorities that her two abductors had covered their faces, and had branded her during her captivity.

News of this CCTV film comes after a bombshell police press conference on Wednesday, when cops revealed they found a man's DNA on her clothes. One is younger, has thin eyebrows, curly hair and is wearing large hoop earrings.

The second captor was described as being older, with thick eyebrows and straight black hair with some gray.

Police said Ms Papini had been beaten and bound but not sexually assaulted, despite being branded, which is common in the human sex trafficking. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to their identification.

"This has been an extraordinarily hard time for our entire family", he said in the written statement.
