Jailed Mumbaikar's mother wants to thank Pakistan scribe freed after 2 years

Journalist Shahzadi recovered from border area

The 26-year-old journalist had been helping Ms. Ansari with the case of her son, who had been arrested while allegedly trying to enter Pakistan illegally to meet a girl that he met online. "Shehzadi was recovered on Wednesday night from near Pak-Afghan border".

While talking to the media, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, who is also the head of missing persons commission in Pakistan, confirmed the scribe's return while blaming the "non-state actors" and "enemy aganecies" for her abduction.

Meanwhile, Zeenat's family had told the human rights activists while she was amiss that the security agencies had once forcibly taken her away and detained for about fours during which she was questioned about Hamid Ansari.

He further added that the journalist was recovered with the help of some tribal elders in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In 2015, she filed an application on behalf of Fauzia at the human rights cell of the Pakistan Supreme Court to locate Hamid.

According to human rights activist Hina Jilani, Shehzadi was traveling to her office on August 19, 2015 when armed men in two Corolla cars intercepted her rickshaw and abducted her.

Shahzadi was reported to have been abducted by Pakistani agencies. After taking this assignment he said he would continue as the chief of the missing persons' commission.

Traumatised mother and Mumbai-based professor Fauzia Ansari, 55, is elated that Pakistani journalist Zeenat Shehzaadi (24) has been freed from the clutches of her abductors.

She recalled the effort and integrity displayed by Ms. Shahzadi.

The reporter was pursuing the case of Indian engineer Hamid Ansari, who was jailed in Peshawar on espionage charges. The application was accepted and forwarded to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.

He was later sentenced to three years' imprisonment by a military court on charges of illegally entering Pakistan and "spying". Law enforcement agencies exercise unrestricted powers under the Pakistan Protection Act of 2014.
