Hawks to net two more draft picks in trade with Cavs

REPORT | Cleveland Cavaliers trade Richard Jefferson, Kay Felder to Atlanta Hawks

The Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday confirmed the trade that is sending Richardson Jefferson and Kay Felder to the Atlanta Hawks, in exchange for forward Dimitrios Agravanis and guard Sergey Gladyr, two future second round draft picks and cash considerations, the team said in a news release. The 2019 pick will be the lesser pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers that had been owed to the Cavaliers, and the 2020 pick is from the Portland Trail Blazers. Jefferson, 37, is on the hook for $2.5 million this season.

For Cavaliers, the finalization of deal will get roster to 15 for opening night. In turn, Atlanta sent inconsequential rights to European players back to Cleveland.

At 37 years old, Jefferson is obviously not the player he once was, but this would be a wise addition for the Bucks if they're able to make it happen.

Cleveland will create two trade exceptions ($2.6 million and $1.4 million) with the trade. Jefferson was traded this week by the Cavaliers to the Atlanta Hawks and is now unemployed after the Hawks waived him.

Jefferson was an important member of the 2016 championship team and the co-host of the popular Road Trippin' Podcast alongside Channing Frye.

Richard Jefferson #24 of the Cleveland Cavaliers plays defense during the preseason game against the Indiana Pacers on October 6, 2017 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. In 42 appearances with Cleveland last season, he averaged 4.0 points per game while also splitting time with the Canton Charge.

Derrick Rose, who joined the team this offseason, said he was unaware Jefferson and Felder had been traded.
