Corker On Trump Lying: 'Everyone Knows He Does It'

Sen. Bob Corker, the retiring Republican chair of the Senate foreign relations committee, has engaged in a heated back-and-forth with Trump for days now, including in an interview with The New York Times where he said that he feared Trump was steering the nation "on the path to World War III".

"I don't know why the president tweets out things that are not true", Corker told The New York Times.

The feud is odd because Corker was briefly considered as a vice president running mate during the 2016 campaign. "Was made to sound a fool, and that's what I am dealing with!"

Trump's outburst comes after Corker made headlines last week when he starkly suggested that the administration's national security team provides the president with badly needed adult supervision. Bob Corker, sending an unmistakable signal to other Republicans that public criticism of President Trump will be met with a fierce public scolding.

Trump tweeted: "Senator Bob Corker "begged" me to endorse him for re-election in Tennessee. I don't think so at all", he said.

President Donald Trump is growing increasingly frustrated and isolated as his presidency approaches the one year mark.

"The vast majority of our caucus understand what we're dealing with here. they understand the volatility that we are dealing with and the tremendous amount of work that it takes from people around [Trump] to keep him in the middle of the road", Corker continued. "Corker and the people of Tennessee", Sanders said.

"I know they're recording it, and I hope you are, too", Corker said. "Didn't have the guts to run!"

Corker's comments have already infuriated Trump's base.

Trump said Tuesday that he didn't think his feud with Corker would imperil his tax cut plan.

In excerpts of the interview, Corker acknowledges that his conversation with the Times was "on the record", an agreement that his remarks can be published and attributed, and not a private discussion.
