President Trump to tout tax plan in Harrisburg, not Hamburg

White House: Not the time for gun law debate

During a White House news briefing on Thursday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated that President Trump sees no meaningful distinction between erroneous news reports and the sort of intentional disinformation Russian bots used to aid his presidential bid.

"I would certainly trust the president and my comments far above those of other reporters", Sanders said.

"It was fake news", Trump said.

When pressed about Trump's tweets-which appear to be in response to an NBC News article that stated Secretary of State Rex Tillerson considered resigning (something he later refuted) and called him a "moron" (which he didn't deny)-Sanders first tried to explain why Trump tweeted what he did.

Rubio asks Army to kick out West Point grad MORE is on the way out on Friday, maintaining that President Trump continues to have confidence in Tillerson. Mayor Cruz has been a very vocal opponent of Trump ever since the federal government started recovery operations in Puerto Rico - so it is surprising that, when face-to-face with the President, she had no comments, requests or advice to impart.

However, a State Department spokeswoman later said that Tillerson has never disparaged Trump with that kind of language. "Which I think is the wrong thing for her to do for her constituents, and I hope the next time she is given the opportunity to help her constituents, she'll take it".

Reporters also peppered Sanders with questions about a nebulous comment Trump made about "the calm before the storm" during a Thursday photo-op with military families.

Asked about the off chance that Trump was merely being "mischievous" or even "messing with the press a little bit", Sanders replied that she hadn't said that was the case and that North Korea and Iran continued to be "bad actors" that merit USA vigilance.

"I'm simply saying that all options are on the table, as they have been", Sanders said later of the remark.
